Clinics We Offer
Ante-natal Care
Patients who are pregnant can now book in directly with the local midwife in the Belford Maternity Unit. (01397 700 371)
We are happy to see expectant mothers in the surgery but we no longer have an ante-natal clinic due to restructuring of midwife rotas etc.
It is local practice for all first babies to be born in Inverness. About 1 in 4 of our pregnant mothers deliver in the local Belford unit supervised by our local midwives.
Asthma Clinic
An asthma clinic is run by our practice nurse Donna MacPhee. However if this does not suit, please make a double appointment during an ordinary surgery.
Most patients will be recalled to make an appointment to an ordinary surgery when their repeat prescription is due.
Diabetic Clinic
Provided in specific clinics each month by Dr McGlynn and Diabetic Specialist Nurse Heather Clark.
Patients will be sent for review regularly and in addition appointments can be made on request.
Cervical Cytology/Smear Tests
These are usually performed by the Practice nurse or by one of the female doctors. Our computerised recall system prompts us to send for you every three years for this and for some patients more frequently.
We will write telling you when your next smear test is due and results are sent direct from the laboratory usually within 3-6 weeks of the smear test. If you have not heard within six weeks please contact the surgery.
Minor Surgery
Various minor surgical problems are dealt within the practice and your doctor will discuss which minor operations we are happy to deal with.
The Practice Nurse
The Practice Nursing Team work from the Treatment Room where they see patients with minor injuries and for dressings, blood tests and they are happy to help with other problems; please book a Practice Nurse appointment.
Well Man/Woman/Contraception.
We do not offer Well Man / Well Woman clinics as we realise everyone has particular and unique concerns if they wish a check up. If you do simply wish a check up, please book through the usual means as a non-urgent appointment with the Doctor of your choice.
Contraceptive Implants and Coils (IUS / IUD) can be inserted and removed at the surgery. Please book for a specific clinic for Dr Cant and Dr Hemm.
Contraceptive options can be discussed with any Doctor or Nurse. The oral contraceptive pill / depo injections can be given during a routine surgery appointment. https://www.contraceptionchoices.org
Sexual health can be discussed in routine appointments however there is a Sexual Health Clinic at the Belford Hospital. This can be booked directly 01463 888300.
